It's not just about having a pop at the club if they sell him for a profit, but a move like this would obviously be extremely attractive to the player, and his agent. We would likely not be able to compete with the wages and signing fees they would be able to offer. Sadly football is so much about money these days that for most clubs it's very hard to resist for long once a club with money like PSG comes knocking for one of your players. yes of course you can put your foot down, tell the player he is going nowhere. most of the time all that makes for is an unhappy player, an agent trying to force a move, a potentially unhappy squad, and could end up with us eventually selling anyway and for a lower price if the club in question decide to be cunty like Marseilles did.
Too much power in the hands of agents these days.

More likely we'd end up with £20m plus Smalling or something from Man Utd.
Which would also be awful, obviously.

We are trying to build something here, not break it up at the chance of making a good investment.
What incentive would we as fans have to carry on supporting the team if its broken up just to make a profit ?

Lets all be honest if he doesn't get sold in January he will in the summer. Can any of you honestly see the Brothers waiving a fee of £50-60m. No chance at all. Good business that buy for £20m, sell at £60m.

If they do sell him just to double their money then we all might as well throw the towel in.
What will be the point
Pellegrini would no doubt walk out as well, and I wouldn't blame him.
It would tell you all you need to know about our board if they sold him

It's been reported in the last few days that PSG are manoeuvring themselves for a bid in excess of £50 million in January for Diop, personally I don't believe it as there seems no credible source, however would you consider it good business to make over double what we've paid for a player in under 6 months?

The Monster and The General are improving every game. LB is now our weakness, Young was getting far too much space down that side and another RB to take over from Zaba unless Fredericks steps up

Laporte Citys £60M odd CB has ZERO caps for france. Their depth is unreal, think Koscienly was out of that world cup winning squad too

THAT tackle and the stadium’s response to it is still being commented on in the media over here, and Poland won the volleyball World Cup last night.

To think that France won the World Cup, and he wasn't even in their squad - scary.

Lucky we got him on a 5 year deal. If he plays like this game in game out big clubs are going to come knocking.
Amazed with how he dealt with Lukaku. He bullied him.

He's fooking massive too, with us being 4000m away from the pitch think its easy to lose track of how big he is but when he goes up for corners you realise for 21 he is a beast

"What a player though. Already were comparing him to our two most successful players ever"
And I genuinely do not think that is getting too excited either. Now you can see why he was Touluse's captain at such a young age.
He is powerful, assured, organised and his distribution excellent. 'That' tackle was very Moore-Esque and if this fella continues developing in the way he has from his first game he can be as good as he wants to be.
He is frighteningly good.

I noticed on YouTube and a couple of times before with us, his "Moore-esq" tackle.
I also loved it on Saturday when he burst out of defence and took the ball past Pogba and set up an attack - Rio - esq, I thought.
My only slight criticism, is with some of his clearances, quite often the ball is given straight back to the opposition. But in his defence (no pun intended) that's probably down to the fact that he is encouraged to play out from the back, instead of just hoofing it out of play - the same criticism can be levelled at Balbuena, too.
What a player though. Already were comparing him to our two most successful players ever

The fella is a monster. Will be an outstanding player. Balbuena also impressed me too.

that if course is a problem with any good player that you have, but I'd rather have players wanted by other clubs then them not being good enough.

Completely agree and said exactly the same thing at the time. The way he tracked back and then timed that tackle to perfection - winning the ball outright - was absolute class. We are starting to see what all the hype was about.

Seriously impressed with him at the weekend, pace power and reads the game very well. Absolute man mountain and at 21 will only get better.
We could have a gem on our hands
